Coaching Staff

Emil "Ecko" Osorio
Women's Volleyball Assistant Coach

A former UCLA volleyball walk-on, Emil "Ecko" Osorio adds over 20 years of coaching experience to the Vulcan staff, beginning his third season in 2020-21. He is a longtime coaching partner with Vulcan head coach Chris Leonard.

Osorio is the president and founder of the Pilipa`a Boys Volleyball Club. He also served as the Waiakea High School boys head coach from 1986-88 and again from 2000-17.

Ecko is married to wife Carla. They have two sons and two grandchildren, all of whom are active in the sport of volleyball.

  • Four-year player and two-time captain as a setter and libero for the Dartmouth Big Green women's volleyball team (2015-2018)
  • Honors: All-Ivy Second Team, Academic All-Ivy, Senior Class Legacy Award, Dartmouth Class of 1950 Award
  • Four-time Big Island Interscholastic Federation Champion and a three-time All-BIIF selection at Kamehameha Schools Hawai‘i (2011-2014)
  • Played club for Pilipa‘a Volleyball Club

  • Collegiate Honors: All-East Coast Conference Second Team (x3)
  •  Big Island Interscholastic Federation Division II Champion (x3) at HIlo High School
  • HS Honors: All-BIIF First Team (x2)
  • Also participated in water polo for the Vikings
